how much is reasonable to paint a 4.8is front bumper?
I am retrofiting the 4.8is front bumper and got a used one on eBay, but it's not the same color as my X, thus needs a paint job.
A local BMW dealership's body shop quoted me $250 to paint, and another $150 to $250 to install. Sound reasonable? I probably could do the installation myself, but my past attempt to remove the current bumper has been unsuccessful. It's a 2005 X5. |
i'd wanna say $400-$500 sounds about right for a paint and install !!

Those prices sound about right.
I think you can install the bumper yourself. I did mine and I assume it's very similar. If you want some tips on removing the bumper just let me know. If you want I'll even help you remove & install it if you're not too far from Silver Spring. Good Luck! |
I found an idependent dude to paint both front/back 4.6 kit for $175
looks great. |

Thats too high...paint and install shouldn't be more then $300 max. All they're doing is the front. Like Krunk said, find an independant who can do it.

The price for the paint job is in line with what I was quoted by a body shop to paint my daughter's 323 front bumper and hood. I was quoted $200 for the front bumper and $450 for the hood. I did both by myself for about $100 in paint, clear coat, wet sand paper and polish compound.

Quality materials alone will cost at least 150.00. You can probably find people to do it for a couple hundred bucks but I assure you they are not using Spies Hecker or other products designed to match Factory BMW paint. It's a 500+ dollar job done right.
