Exterior mirror trim rings - need help
 

Does anyone know how to carefully remove the trims rings (typically black in color) that surround the exterior rear view mirrors?

No one knows how to do this?

Yes they do come off. I replaced the trim ring on my 3.0 last week. Had the replacement in hand and could see that with a little pressure on the underside of the ring I could get the tabs holding it in to release. As you push up on the bottom of the ring you will see it start to lift under the mirror. At the same time start to pull/press around the edges and bam it will come off. The plastic shell will fall away and you will see the light bulb assy and the backside of the mirror. Reassembly is the same, it just snaps together...good luck
