What wheels would you put on?

Hi all,

I have a sterling gray 4.4 which I will be putting 4.8 flares and bumpers on.
almost limo tint, will be smoking all the lights today and it is already lowered with h&r kit.

I want to buy 20" wheels and powder coat or paint them gun metal or black.

What wheel would you buy and what colour?

I agree. 87s for a more sporty/aggressive look or 168s for hmmm ...ahhh ... LESS sporty/aggressive look! :p:

FSETH 12-03-2008 05:14 PM

87's all the way. I do like the 168's, but there is something about the 87's that transform the X, IMO.

b1x 12-03-2008 07:23 PM

can someone show pics of each. lol

damn, I feel like such an E53 X5 NEWBIE! lol

b1x 12-03-2008 07:34 PM

ok, I searched!
;)
I know what the 168 (4.8 wheels)
87's (4.6)
and 214's are like the new E70 4.8 wheel correct?
and 215's are E70 wheels but more rounded edges.

Can someone post pics of E53's with 214's on!;)
I can get a great deal on REPLICA 214's.

I LOOOOOVE the 215's but feel like they may look better on a E70???

What do you all think of 214's on E53's?

They look pretty good. A few people here have them, but I think they look a little better on the e70. I promise I wont say it any more in this thread, but the 87's are just money on an e53.

I myself perfer chrome or match the color of your X, don't care much for powdercoated black or gun metal rims. I have seen a few applications I could live with, all had a wide chrome lip but very limited applications.

Having got 132's fitted I can say that apart from looking pretty cool they are very easy to do a detail clean on with the weekly wash, reckon 87's would be the same. I can easily clean the entire inside of each rim because of the amount of space provided between the spokes. I've got 19's but pretty sure they come in 20's.
Just my 2 cents.

mtX5 12-04-2008 09:40 PM

get the 87s!!

Those 214's do look pretty damn good too, UCrew.

Mister2 12-04-2008 10:54 PM

87's will match any year and is easier to clean. I like the 168 also.

Ucrew - what kind of exhaust do you have?

My son had just got done detailing the X5 for me when those pics were taken last spring. He used Armor All on the trim, as I recall.
