Need Some Help...Coming up on 100K....What service shall I get done??
Hey gang -
As you all would imagine I am meticulous about the X and her engine etc, etc, as I am coming up on 100k...(I am at 92k now) what shall I get done... my Indy will be hunting down a p0174...... weez pointed me in the right direction with that issue...so while he is in there I want to knock out anything to do with the 100k service...... so at 100k should I do?? spark plugs, fuel filter?? what else?? is there a thread that I missed? also...... is there an aftermarket performance type spark plug that I should be looking for?? or wires??? Any help here is much appreciated as she is going in on Thursday..... Thanks, Rich:thumbup: |
NGK iridium plugs work great. Also, you should probably change your water pump, and thermostat if you havent already.

Just carry on servicing as you already have nothing special needed for 100k if you have serviced it properly in the past, the water pump and thermostat is a good idea as precaution at the next service

Do your Beemer a favor and take it in to the dealer and let them give it a look over. Yes your Indy may be good but if he has to hunt down a error code that should be indication enough that u need to get it to the dealer to do a proper preventive maintenance check. Just my opinion because I know you baby your X so why not treat it to a real servicing

I have the same code and 95k miles, so im in a similar situation as you. I took it to the dealer and it seems that I'm going to eventually need to replace the intake gaskets due to a slow leak which is causing it to run lean. This job includes removing a lot and it would be a shame not to replace the valley pan gasket and other various o-rings and gaskets at the same time. I have a list from the dealer of things they recommend fixing and will post if you are interested:thumbup: . I really feel my X does need all the maintainace the dealer stated and that this is not a case of the dealer being the 'stealer'...however, I will most likely get these things done at an indie. If i could afford it, no problem, i would be taking to the dealer...but im a starving college student---why do i drive a bmw??:stickpoke
