4.4 radiator leak question?

I noticed a small leak that seems to be at the junction where the plastic radiator side attaches to the core on the driver side. Would it be harmful to try a some alumaseal or barsleak? Or should I just plan on a new radiator?

thanks!

I had the same problem ,was leaking a lot and I went to autozone and I got same antileak stuff and ...problem solved ....so before replacing radiator try auto zone ,,,,,nothing to lose .Worked for me

If its leaking from where you can see, it's very possible that it is leaking from where you can't see. I had the same problem on my '01 4.4 (leaking just the way yours is) and put in a new radiator. A radiator leak to me screams "buy a new radiator:yikes: ". Thats just my $.02.

before replacing radiator try auto zone ,,,,,nothing to lose .

Not a bad idea, I must add.:iagree:

Alright, I'll give the antileak stuff a shot and just keep a really good eye on it.
I was just unsure if the antileak stuff could possibly clog something besides the leak in the system causing more problems.

thanks guys

+1 on the new radiator.

The bars leak crap is just that. Crap!!! It is a band aid for your radiator that may just ruin your water pump. Choice is yours. When my 01 4.4 started leaking I replaced the radiator because I plan on keeping it. If I was trading it in I may have bars leaked it.

get a new radiator before you mess things up

New radiator without question. The temporary repair fluids are just that...temporary and will sludge-up the cooling system. Emergency use only.

That ebay add looks sketchy to me:confused: . It's most likely a "Nissens" radiator from Japan. Bottom line--nissens is crap and you'll need a new radiator sooner than you had planned. Stick with OEM which is made by "Behr", I believe. If you are replacing it yourself I would buy it online instead of the dealer to save some money.
This would also be a good time to change the water pump, thermostat, upper and lower radiator hoses, and drive belts while you are at it.
