Airbag Light on

Afternoon all, Xmas greetings from London,

I've had a search for this subject and found a few bits of info but nothing concrete.

My Airbag light came on two days ago.

I've not disconnected the battery or seats recently.

I've check the connections under the front seats and they are fine.

We are Traveling on the motorway on Boxing day with kids in the car so I want to be sure the Airbags are working.

Is there anything else that should be checked before dropping my pants at the local stealer?

Only good things to say about this site and my X5 (so far so good) ! !

Many Thanks,

B

Hi London5...I had the same problem when I bought my 02 x5 4.4 Sport.Part of the deal the dealer had to fix the light problem. All the sensors checked out ok. The actual problem in my case was the airbag module itself. Don't want to scare you, but if its an airbag problem it can get very pricey according to my mechanic.Glad I put the deal in my contract before I wrote the check.

It could be something as simple as having the light reset.

Thanks, it's going into BMW in the AM, I need to know if the airbags are active or not before the Xmas drive.

I had to beg to get it in before the 5th Jan.

The labour Per Hour is £135 English Pounds !

I'll post the damage.

Thanks,

I have the same problem. The light came on after I fitted the Dice. I had disconnected the battery and the seat plug/socket. I tried disconnecting the battery again. Le Mans Sport 3.0D E53 2006 20K Miles, Nav, Bluetooth. Any help would be appreciated.

The car came back, they quoted £123 to tell me what the problem with the airbag light was. I was called that afternoon and they'd used 2 hours and still didn't know what the problem was.

After a 3rd hour the fault was found.

I was charged 2 Hours

It was the offside front door airbag control module £96'ish

£409 Total Inc Vat

They did a free top to toe and quoted,

Rear Pads and Discs £268
Front CV Rubber Cover Replacement Needed £250
Rear Rubber Flex Mount things £500

Replace Wind Screen Wipers £57

I'll be hopefully getting this sorted for allot less via a local garage

Fancy doing the pads and discs myself but it's cold and I don't have big enough garage.

Thanks,

Wow! Makes my stealer here in the US look like a bargain.
