I had the same issue with mine. It ended up popping out with the pickle fork. I had to hammer it in with the flat side up, then flip the fork over and hammer it in with the flat side down. It came loose then.

Or you can find a BMW tech and pay him labor and you provide the parts. Thats what I do.
