Can anyone help X5 wont start gear shift in park but on dash registers as in drive and therefore when turning key its thinking that it is in drive.
Clock also stopped at time of occurance
Was thinking if disconecting battery and reconnecting to reset computer does anyone think this will work, oh and were is the battery?

disconnect battery would be the best bet,,,,, lift cargo cover, remove spare tire, battery is under a round cover under spare.

There is a cable running from the shifter up to the ignition switch. It may have broken or become disconnected.
