I would say the same on that strange hood protector you have!
It's a matter of personal taste :stickpoke

:iagree:Some neuter there X5's by removing the roofracks, while you've simply given it nerd glasses. Both mods are easily changed back.

:wow: That red is f'ing sex at it's best!!! I usually like the pushbar i've seen on some X's, but that one looks good to. I've got soo much to learn when it comes to bodykits on these rigs.

I LOVE MODDING!!!!!!!

But, there are two things I dont see the sense of when it comes to modding the X:

-Removing the roof rails? :dunno:

The roof rails are a part of the ''design'' of these cars, and when removed they leave the holes (which many plugs with plastic plugs)
Why not just get a 5 series station wagon? It rides better as well.......

I did this mod myself, on an Audi RS2 (european Audi made by Porsche), but I did the whole 9 yards, welded up the holes and had the car painted. But this is a VERY different type of car.......

-Lowering the car? :dunno:

It's an SUV, and its supposed to have some ground clearance. The biggest + about these cars is that you sit high up and have a good view.......
If you want a sports car, buy one...... the X will never be a sports car, no matter how much you lower it.....
Again, why not just get a 5 series station wagon? It rides better as well.......

just my 2 cents, and this is not meant to upset anyone who has done these mods.

Your own sig says you deleted the roof rails....

I would agree that on a non modified X5....it may look a bit wierd....but with the combination of mods that many of us have..the roof rail delete works.....

This is a before pic.....from October....

Hey Rich,

I'm still a newbie here to the X5, so I don't know much about your X. What exhaust/tips are those you have installed? I have similar looking tips on my 7 by using Magnaflow 14816 mufflers, but they'll too long to be installed on the X :( Also, I love your wheels, but only the rears :( it's not your fault at all, but it reminds me of my Beyern Mesh wheels on the 7...I love how they curve in on the rears, but I hate how they stay flat faced on the front - damn wheel designers

EDIT - I just got to page two of this thread and found you have the SS exhaust. I've got an x-pipe sitting in my garage that I (long story) installed and removed from my 7. Do you happen to remember the exhaust diameter of the X? The X-pipe I have is 2.5, but i'm afraid that the X might be 2.25, so i'm afraid it'll cause drone if I install a larger x-pipe that the stock diameter of the exhaust.

Also, i've read this entire thread and haven't seen if there is a kit that blocks the holes after the roofrack is removed....how are people plugging the holes?

Hey Big, I like the M6 wheels in black w/ the time attack look.

I'm still curious as to where people are finding these caps, like in what department of either Lowes or Homo Depot?

bigfish 06-11-2009 11:04 AM

m5,

I believe I got them at Lowe's. Thanks for the feedback on the wheels, I just got them and I'm still getting used to them.

i just deleted my rails yesterday. i picked up the caps at my local hardware store (ACE). They were back by the screws, bolts, etc. in the hardware section.

hope this helps.
