Question about bluetooth.

Hello there,
I had a question about my blue tooth on my 05' X5. I have it paired with my iphone but after its paired on the dash I see it say 'Active Phone'. I'm just not sure what that means and how I will be able to get it to sync with the BMW. Any help?
