Thanks Roc,
Yes, sometimes review is helpful :) !
Also, for those who don't want to lose the OEM display, perhaps a single-DIN aftermarket unit would be better for them. I'll await the z1 to see how it pans out in reviews, options, integration, etc.

Anyone have the Performance Monitors on the Avic units working on an X5?
Curious if it lends any insight or usefulness...
Tek it easy,
Mindfull

sorry roc, i forgot that you had pointed that out to me before. for some reason, i equated that with bluetooth in my head and once the bluetooth problem was solved, i forgot you had said that you coudl do everything else on the other display. thanks for your patience.

It is ok bros....I know making this choice is not easy...once you buy Murphy's Law says it is mandatory that the latest and greatest comes out after the unit gets installed and hits your credit card!

Not exactly Grumpy Bear... you still lose the ability to control the secondary features of the bc: reminder signal, stopwatch, independent ventilation, speed limit, dist to dest, ETA, extended immobilizer, etc.

You use that stuff? We were talking about in the instrument cluster. If you have a DSP and yank it out, it is understood that is all bye bye.

Not to mention you have not been answering IM's for three months on the topic...my frustration is the same questions being asked over and over simply because they have not taking the time to read all the post. I am happy to help with all that I know but all I ask is read the postings first.

I have not been answering your IM's... Huh? I think you are confusing me with someone else. I don't know you, you've never sent me IM, and I only became aware of this topic about 2 weeks ago.

At any rate, I'm really excited and hopeful about the new AVIC-Z1 that will use a 30GB HD and hopefully BT. That and my preference is for a fancier face plate.

edit for typo

Gerber? Are they going to make one for you out of strained bananas? :loco: Seriously though, this sound pretty good. Have you looked into this any further with Gerber?

Rich do you still sell these trim bezels for the pioneer unit to put in the x5 ?
I think I am picking up a 2005 without the nav so this will be great to have this trim piece!
