Experience with MID's
So i'm still trying to replace my MID with a working one. I tried repairing it and no luck, i could send it away but i think i can find a replacement for cheaper.
I have this part number on my 2001 x5 3.0i (#65826909133). Seems like when you check realoem.com they have updated the part with (#65806914604). I have ordered the latter part from a junkyard, let's hope that it is not missing pixels. Thoughts? |
argh!!!! i rc'd the part (#65806914604) from the junkyard today. It is missing lot's of pixels. This is the 2nd one i've tried, don't they test these things????

Does your X5 have the on board computer and/or DSP?

Negative to both!

I have a spare MID that works really well (does not have OBC or DSP). All the pixels work. The only thing is, there is a smudge around the center of the display that will not come off.
I'll PM you the pics. Dan |
Need MID help
Hey everyone. I purchased a used 2002 X5 3.0 about a week ago. I absolutely love it. I have a similar situation with the MID. There are two rows of pixels out across the middle...not a big deal but I would like to fix it. My questions are 1) Can I do it myself and 2) is it $$$? Thanks for any advice.

They are around $700 new at the dealership, if you can find one on ebay maybe (most of the time they are missing pixels too, same as junkyard) I would try to get it repaired, someone on BimmerBoard Free Message Board Communities for BMW Enthusiasts does it for a good price, sub $100) Only problem is you will be without your mid for a couple days.
