Loud clicking noise when turning at full Lock, PLEASE HELP

Hi all,

I have a 3.0 x5 2002 and it developed a clicking noise when turning at full lock to the left. I thought it was the CV joint and replaced straight away. Unfortunatly this didn't work. I then proceeded to swap the front drive shafts round to see if the noise moved from the drivers side to the passenger side. I did this yesterday and the noise has become far worse, it is still on the drivers side but now clicks when turning to the right instead but worse :(

After more testing the noise only appears when applying the throttle. If i am on full lock to the right with a bit of throttle and just touch the brakes the noise becomes even more louder.

I have checked the brakes which are all fine.

Has anyone had a similar problem as I am starting to pull my hair out with it now.

Thanks in advance for any replies

There are bundles of posts regarding clicking noises, just do a search, may range from the sway bars to steering column links…..mine clicks not too loudly both clockiwise and anticlockwise, I have left it as it is

Don't max out your steering like that...Its bad for the X, only do it if absolutely necessary..
