Sounds like something is either blocking your sensors or you have bad sensors.

visually check the sensors for anything blocking them, or else, you might have a short. a technician will find out the faulty one or the short circuit, they are not that hard to get out of the bumper (attached via clips on E53)

any tips on how to get them out?

Unfortunately this gremlin has visited our X recently. I'm beginning to realize that the X doesn't like cold weather. I'm basing this on different assumptions so take it for what it's worth.

Different people suggested a couple of tests:

- make sure nothing is blocking the sensors like dirt. Mine are free of obstructions but still have the problem.

- Place your hand near each sensor and you should get a little shock (like static shock) if it's okay. Only one of my fronts does this. Don't know if all were working prior as I had no reason to test them before. I think they were all working fine because the good one now is one of the corner sensors and I didn't have problems with objects directly in front prior.

- place your ear close to the sensor and you should hear a slight click. I don't recommend this (see above)! :D

- Somebody said sometimes a short in the wiring can cause this too. There's a lot of wiring to check! :(

There might be more but that's what I've come up with so far. I haven't checked all the back sensors yet.

As far as removing the PDCs there are several threads. I know there was one by ca911. When I get around to trying to fix the problem I'll search more and report back.

And since my recent hitch/pdc sensor clearance issues... I have 2 working pdc sensors sitting around now. When you guys find the bad sensors, hit me up. The ones I have extra are the ones with the plugs aiming straight back.
