angel eye wiring question

I wired my angel eyes finally and everything works great. They are wired to the red/white cable as instructed. The only thing I am not too fond of is the fact that they are constantly on, even with the headlights off. Has anyone wired their kit in a way so that they only light up when the lights are lit? Or possibly installed a switch which allows you to turn them on and off?

EDIT: big thanks to Tom at EAS for installing the rings into the headlights

I tried to wire mine to a switch but it was throwing out an error message like "check side light". I used the DYI article on the homepage as a guide.

I think if I tap into the OEM harness INSIDE the headlight it should be fine. Since I'll be tapping the OEM wiring harness I figure it should work then. I think the key is using the OEM positive and negative wires INSIDE the headlight. The DIY article was not using the OEM harness. However, it's too cold these days to troubleshoot it.

I'll try to make a simple wiring diagram to show you guys.

Yep I agree, way to cold in the northeast to really do anything. What I was thinking was to extend the cable that plugs into the red/white harness into the interior of the car and connect it to a switch which could possibly trigger the AE's on and off.

Here was my solution to this that gives a total OEM look - http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/l...ngel-eyes.html

Yes, I think what you're referring to is this (which is what I followed):

However, mine is facelifted and I got an error message. The article mentions don't power the positive because it also powers the main beams. However, he's talking about not doing that OUTSIDE the headlights. I'm going to tap the OEM harness INSIDE the headlight so basically I'm connecting the switch in parallel.

Here's what I'm talking about. Sorry for the crude dwg. :(

On my daughter's 323 I wired the angel lights to the side/blinker lights. Therefore they come on when I turn the lights on and blink when I used the blinkers. I do not have angel light on my X but when I do I will wire them the say way.
