Cranks but wont start.
 

Is there any easy fix or troubleshoot i can do to fix this. My 2002 X5 3.0 will crank with a different sound but wont start. Could it be the starter?

If it cranks, it won't be the starter. What is the different sound? Does it sound like a hair faster with a bit less load?

First culprit would be the battery. How old is the battery? Try to jump start it with another car. If you can jump start it then it is the battery and it probably needs to be replaced.

weasel56 is right. Its cranks a little fast than usual but less load. wha would the problem be

its definitely not the battery bec it cranks pretty well.

Any other inputs?

I still think it could be the starter. Not exactly what kind of mechanism the starter in BMW uses, but in other cars there is a chance the starter isn't engaging the flywheel fully, which would lead to a higher pitch/less force and no start ;)

With an answer like that you should be banned for a day
