X-pipe needed?

If I wanted to add Dinan Exhaust to my 03 4.4, would I need an X-pipe also? Are their any other parts needed to switch out the exhaust? I'm looking to buy used and just wanted some advise.

The x-pipe replaces the stock resonator and would ultimately make your car sound louder. It's not a must, but all just depends on your personal taste.

Personally, I would make it a 2 stage project. I would do the exhaust first without the x-pipe. Drive it for a couple of weeks and let the exhaust "break in". If that's not loud enough for you, then add the x-pipe.

I'd just get the xpipe..its cheap, quick, and much louder then just stock..

Does adding an x-pipe void the warranty? Sorry for piggy backing on thie thread, but thought I would ask, cause I think this will be my first mod to my 2005 4.4i X

I think you might just void the warranty on the exhaust, but not the rest of the vehicle..

What does it say on your warranty paperwork?

You mean I have to read? I know that normally, most manufacturers can't void a warranty unless it is directly related to the OEM part that failed due to the new aftermarket part, but I wasn't sure how anal BMW is with "modding".
