Self Leveling Suspenion Test

Anybody have a sure fire/easy way to test that the self leveling suspension is working properly?

From time to time, I hear mine pumping up but recently I haven't heard it in a while.

No I don't just spend time wondering if the features of my X5 working or not:-) This is important now as I'm buying components for a weight distribution trailer hitch and a nonfunctioning self leveling feature would cause me to get the wrong hitch shank.

TIA,

Was hoping for something a little more sophisticated:D Part of the reason that I'm suspecting it might not be functioning is that I can hitch my empty trailer to the X5 and I don't see or hear any autoleveling action. The empty trailer puts at least 350 lbs on the hitch.

Okay, hopefully somebody can chime in with a better suggestion. I really don't know how it works or what limits there are for the self level. I don't know if its supposed to be able to keep the X level with a trailer on the hitch. I'd imagine its pretty heavy if its the enclosed type.

I'll try and wrangle the X from my wife tomorrow and throw some heavy stuff in the back. I'll tell you what happens to mine then.

Take it to an Indy (or the dealer) that has a GT1 DIS
Then you will know for sure.

When I stack the tailgate with people (enough to feel a drop) I hear/feel it running/raising for a few seconds.

Drop your tailgate. Stick this on it. If they jiggle your auto leveling is raising the car back up and is working properly.
