traction control / ABS indicator warning

My Traction Control and ABS Brake warning lights appeared on my dash today on my '02 X5.

Has anyone had this experience before and if so what might it mean?

Thank You,

Its most likely your ABS module...they have a tendency to fail. What codes from the OBDII are you getting? That will tell you for sure.

Could be your steering angle sensor too. thats what mine was.

Likely your ABS Sensor. Go to any AutoZone or Auto parts store. They can hook up their computer and tell you the problem. Mine was my rear right ABS Sensor. I went to replace it. It was stuck solid. It broke off flush with the top of the axle. I had to use a 1/2" drill bit and drilled it out. I replaced it with a new one. No more lights.
