Now the it won't start....

Just finished replacing the Oil Seperator and Valve Cover Gasket as well as an oil filter and oil change on my '01 3.0i. What fun this has been....

Rolled the car out of the garage and... it won't start!

At first there was clicking, most lights were on in the dash, and the headlights starting flashing.

Tried to jump start with our minivan - at least it gave enough juice to close all 4 windows. Let the battery charge for a few minutes then tried to resstart - now there is no clicking and the only dash lights are the battery and (?) i can't remember which but it is just the to right of the battery light.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Fully charge the battery out of the vehicle... that would ensure proper charge, and also perform a battery reset on all control modules at the same time. Odds are it will start right up if you do that.

I use a trickle charger (2A) to recharge the battery in vehicle for at least six hours. This has been required three times so far in five years. At least twice because I left an interior light on  Even the huge flatbed tow truck they sent the first time it happened had problems jumping my 04 4.4.

Thanks. I'll take it somewhere tomorrow for a charge.

How do you do a battery reset on all control modules? Sorry if this is a novice question...

Just by disconnection the battery for a while, it will be done just by removing the battery to charge.

And when you put the freshly charged battery back in and start the vehicle, the DSC light will probably be on... just turn the steering wheel lock to lock and it should go off.

Sorry for going a bit off, but why would you take the battery out off the car just for charging when there's connectors under the hood? (For jump starting etc.)

I would guess for the reset of all modules as he stated :)

Thanks Weasel56. A recharge was all it needed - didn't have the DSC light stay on.

Ran/Idled a little rough during the first test drive, but the next day everything seemed to sort itself out.

Glad things worked out easily for ya
