Sex on wheels

Hi, i just purchased a 2003 4.4i X5. My previous ride was a toyota corolla 1.6litre. I had never driven a bmw and belieive me when i drove the X5 today it felt like having sex. I like. One question thou i have the bluetooth phone package so does it mean it has voice activation. i tried pressing and holding the call button on the steering but it does not respond other than dial the number. i have the iphone paired with the system and works great but no voice activation. One more thing, the instrument cluster has some dead pixels, is it possible to fix them easily. Any help would be greatly appriciated.
cheers
Ehsan

Congrats on the X!!!

Welcome to X5world!

I bought a new cluster and had the dealer program it....you will; need them to do that should you get a new cluster...

If that does not work..then buy the fix or ask someone here if they have bought it and if they would not mind sharing it..

The 2003 x5 I bought has factory Bluetooth and works alright with iPhone 3g. I paired a blackberry as well and both worked fine even the contacts got transfered. The best thing is your contacts and incoming calls also show up on the display on your instrument cluster which I find very conveinent.

Glad you like your new ride, it's a huge difference from what you had. You have many hours of absolutely fantastic driving ahead of you. You must get familiar with your vehicle in as many aspects as you can and keep it maintained (and clean) at all times. Read the manual and all that is relevant on the Home page.

Problem 1: To my knowledge you will have to purchase and install a Voice Activation kit. I also have BT and it did everything you said, I haven't bothered with the VA kit though.

Problem 2: Richirich is on the money re new cluster with dealer installing it. Maybe first head back to the dealer and hit them up. Did you get a RACV inspection done first before purchase ?? Search will reveal many responses here. I believe the ebay repair option is a maybe.

Yeah, post pics asap.

Enjoy.

Thanks ifoomph for the info. I did have an inspection done. The only 2 major problems they found was head cover gasket damage and one torn cv boot. Is there any good shop around melbourne to buy some accesories for my ride. I want to install angel eyes and chrome tips on the rear exhaust pipes.
Thanks in advance
