fog light problem
My drivers side fog light will not illuminate. I've changed the bulbs and it still doesn't fire up. No flickering, nothing, it just acts like its dead. I checked with different bulbs just to make sure I didn't buy a bad bulb. Still no light. Mine's an 01 X, and takes an H3 bulb. I've never heard of this happening before. Anyone have any input? I knew i had to change it because it was blown. I checked the old bulb and it was indeed blown, it was black inside the glass. but now with the new bulbs nothing happens.

Did you handle the new bulb properly?
Use a multimeter and check if you getting any juice at the socket. Check the contacts for corrosion. |
Yes i handled the bulbs correctly as I always do.. I checked the contacts they look ok..I mean they look the same as they always have..they don't look any worse then they were before.. I don't have a multi meter, but why would there be no juice going to it? I've never heard of this happening before?

unplug the ground wire (brown one) and sand the fog light housing post with sand paper .
|
Whats the housing post? Is it that little part that the brown wire connects to on the fog light housing?

Alright..so I took everything apart. Sanded down the post that the ground wire connects to and tried it..no light..Still the same thing was happening. Then after some thought, I disconnected the actual fog light assembly from the wires that go inside the fog light hole in the bumper. I sanded down the metal connecter outlets that were exposed from where i disconnected it from the wires that go into the bumper. I did that for about 5 or 6 minutes and put everything back together again and bling! Fog lights work, no problems.. So yes, the sand paper worked, but not on the ground wire housing post. I had to go a little further and disconnect the foglight from the car and sand those 2 prongs down.. Thanks for the suggestions guys! Nothing like fixing the X on a Friday night..
