I have a proposition for you....
I have brand new OEM 21" X6 wheels sets...Style 128 & 275. I am looking preferably a late model, clean e53 (dark color with stock 18" - not required) to do a test fitting. The X6 rear wheels have the same size hub as the e53 yet the fronts will need hub centric rings which I should have any day now.
I would like to come to you or meet in a flat parking lot to do a test fitting and take a couple photos.
What's in it for you? $120 for your time (shouldn't take more than 45 minutes - hour) ....or if you like either set I will sell them to you at $120 below my cost which is below dealer cost as I negotiated an 18 set purchase from BMW.
Just throwing it out there - I can do it at a dealership yet I thought it may be something of interest to someone here

I'm in Oxford CT. I have a 01 Dark green X5, clean.. it has 17" stock wheels. If you can'not find something closer to what your looking for, I will do it.

I'm in Northeastern NJ, maybe 15 minutes from the tappan zee bridge, I have a black '06 X5 4.4, and a workshop with a lift, so swapping the wheels would be quick.

let me know if you are interested.

Don't you have 7-series style 128 wheels at dealer? The 7-series 128 fit the E53.

You guys are awesome! - I will be happy to go to either of you. I ordered a set of hub centric ring a couple weeks ago which I will need to mount the front wheels - they have not arrived yet. When they do I will set a date and time that works best for you

Never heard or seen that before but at quick glance the 21" for the 7 Series has a... :

9 x 21 ET24 (Front)
10 x 21 ET25 (Rear)

with a 245 width front tire and a 285 rear.

While the X5 21" is... :

10 x 21 ET40
11.5 x 21 ET42

with a meaty 285 width front and 325 rear

The X6 and the X5 has basically the same footprint & with a very minor offset difference in the rear thus would make for a perfect BMW fit? That is what my efforts here are to confirm.
