Hi i guys i recently bought an X5 and i love it. its a beast, i can not keep the grin off my face everytime i press the accelerator. I am posting a few pics. The only thing which bothers me is that i dont have angel eyes. I am considering either to buy the CCFL kit from ebay open the headlights and install them on to the headlights or buy completely new headlights with angel eyes built in. i would like to keep the original headlights and install the CCFL on to the headlight. This option is alot cheaper plus this way i will still be able to keep the functiion of auto aiming. The only problem is that my current headlights seems a bit dull, is there anyway to make them look more clear or should i just purchase new complete headlights with angel eyes already install. Any suggestions are welcome. And thanks in advance.

Hi mogm, Top looking machine you picked up there, nice interior colour also. I like your attitude of tackling the h/lights straight out of the blocks (Richirich would be proud of you). I'm v interested in following you in that project as my stock h/lights are looking somewhat wanting especially as I've upgraded the tail lights to clears. Looks like a hybrid at present. Many options to go for, I've sent you PM. What size V8 you got, year & k's ?? It seems like you've got the big brother to my X. Enjoy |
If your X5 is a 2000-2002 model year then it's not a difficult project to install angel eyes yourself. If you have a 2003, however, the sealant used to glue to clear plastic to the rear shell is a different compound and does not come apart without damaging the components. Thus, 2003 headlights are not good candidates for installing angel eye rings.

Wilkommen,
Nice car. As far as the headlights, get some polishing compound, go at it slowly and by hand. You will be amazed. (maybe use a cutter, very lightly, then the polish) Mine's an 01 and these are factory lights. |
Hi Guys mine is a 4.4 2003 so how diifficult is it to open the head lights, do i have to use a heat gun like someone suggested or is there an easier fix?
