GPS World map
 

Hi there, it's been a while

I'm trying to find a gps world map that would work in the X but I'm not having any luck.

Anyone got some info on this?

I would preferably like one that includes Iceland

I dont think there is a such thing as a "world map"
As far as i know, there are only continental DVD sets (if you have DVD based unit) or you are stuck with CD-s that are for each country (they do include major roads for the area)
For island you would have to get currently EU DVD 2009.1 that will cover rest of the EU as well. For the states you would get USA 2008.2 and there is middle east and so on.

(PS. in order for the latest DVD maps to work on MK IV unit you nead to update to latest software, so the unit can read dual layer discs)
Software is downloadable from the forum (se V32) and it is realy easy burn and install

Go to www.navteq.com and you'll find everything you need to know.

EU 2009.1 does not have Iceland.
On navteq.com you can buy individual cd:s or cd sets for region.
Check it out, you can check with your local dealer as well.
Since MK IV is VDO developed unit, you can use maps that are made for VDO, Carin, and also some other car brands.

I have been searching for an information like this for a long period. (As a matter of fact there are lots of cars with MKIII and MKIV in Turkey) but no maps provided from navteq or the local distributor.

By the above do I understand that if we find a map that is made for VDO, Carin and if we change the map data on the CD or DVD it will work ? Will it be that simple ??

just put the cd in and it will work
