smoking exhaust.
 
Please help,i own a 2004 x5 3.0 sport,the problem is the last two times i have started the engine blue smoke comes out of both exhaust pipes.I have been told the problem may be over filling the tank with petrol.i filled up to the brim for the first time on monday morning.if anyone has any info on my smoking exhausts i will be forever greatful, thanks graham.:dunno:

Hhmm... does it only do it upon startup then goes away? Usually blue smoke indicates burning oil. I think its white for water and black for when its running too rich.

When you rev the accelerator does it still do the same?

Intermittent blue smoke is indicative of oil burning, which is indicative of an oil separator failure in the culmination. Start digging in and see if you have a broken seal....or if the oil seperator went.
