DSC parked on incline/decline
 

My driveway is on a incline (my X5 parks with the nose slightly pointed up higher than the rear) and when I start up, the DSC icon is lite up. I can still drive with the DSC icon on but I believe if I do, the Trans Fail Safe Prog will kick in. Now when I turn off the X5, wait a few seconds, the icon disappears. Is it possible the DSC kicks in because of the parking on an angle?? Any thoughts are appreciated...

My garage also has a sloped floor of about 3 degrees with the front higher than the rear when parked. I've not experienced the same as you re DSC issue. Can't offer any help sorry.

3 degrees is hardly any type of angle. I'm talking about 30-40 degree angles. The nose is sticking up to the point where you can literally see the bottom of the X5 from looking straight on.

Ok I agree, 3 deg is not much of an angle but it is enough to stop me from doing correct oil and coolant level checks at home.

However I doubt that you really do have a driveway angled at 30 or 40 deg. I'd like to see you getting in or out of the car at that angle. You'd need a bloody big steel cable attached to your house to hold it there.

I reckon you might be talking about 8 to 12 deg maybe. Can you take a pic of your X on your driveway from the side (with the camera level) ??

BTW did you know that the X5 is designed to go up or down a 50 degree slope, very impressive.

So that you get a better appreciation for the angles mentioned check out below, the angles are accurate.

Bottom line I hope you resolve your DSC issue.

Thanks for the info... I guess 30 degrees is a little exaggerated... sorry. By looking at your images... my driveway is probably 12-15 degrees. I live in the city where some houses, the driveway's go somewhat under the house kind of to the garage. If anyone here in the forum lives in NYC in Brooklyn or Queens, they'll know what i'm talking about. Anyway... thanks for you info.

I live at the beach so all the houses are built on sand dunes, therefore 30-35 degree driveway is the norm, with low clearance cars you have to go into it at an angle, anyways I have never experienced those issues on the extreme slope (I never left mine there for extended periods of time though) - and as for getting in and out of the car, it's generally a challenge (like falling out of it)
