BMW-Online no longer taking orders?
Does anyone know what happened to BMW-Online.com ? They used to take online orders and also have a 800 number. Now no more. What happened?

I didn't seem to have any problems ordering but I didn't take it all the way to actually paying. I think its just their online ordering process/wording that threw you off. ;)
1. Go to the product you want you'll see a shopping cart symbol and link that says "Shop at your local BMW Center". 2. Click that link and enter your zipcode. A list of local dealers comes up. I assume this is where you will have to p/u your merchandise. 3. Select the link for the dealer you want and it will return you to that product with a new link that says "Add to Shopping Bag". 4. When you're finished click the "Begin Checkout" link. Whatcha gettin? :D |
Your right! The step 2 DID throw me. The checkout process asks for shipping preference so I assume it will get shipped, but apparently from the dealer you have chosen in step 1. Weird. In the past all the items were processed through a company called Saratoga Direct (if I recall correctly) which was in NJ I think and the actual items would come from whatever warehouse had them in stock.
I was interested in a particular t-shirt, nothing terribly exciting, but they don't have the right size. |
in the U.S. the distribution laws require that the car manufacturers can only deal with customers (for purchasing items) through an authorized dealer, I think it was GM who tried to setup an online ordering system for cars and the laws prevented it
