Help/Passenger Door Will not open

I’m unable to open the p/s door. Inside and outside handle will not open the door. I have manage to get access to the inside of the door by taken off the door panel. The problem is what inside that I need to touch, move or pull to release the latch to get the door open.

All other doors lock and unlock via the remote and center button. I have done a reset by removing the battery connector. I have read over 200 or more post on frozen door lock assy and carrier replacements. But all don’t say how to get you door when the lock is failed. Any suggesting.

You have to get to the carrier and try to twist it each direction. You might get lucky.

Or try to reach the actuator

I been up and down inside this door and pulled on 2 cable inside to release the latch. no good. one cable is attached to the door handle as I pull it from the outside that I feel going the mech inside and no good. the actuater seem to have three moving parts.. one from the handle when you pull up on the outside. 2. from the handle inside when pull nothing 3. is the Door lock rod; which is in the lock position and when pull up nothing happens. but one returns to the lock positing.

Next.....:dunno:

you have to make sure the rod (number 4 in the picture) is up and then try to pull the actuator handle that comes from the carrier. if you already removed the rod then make sure the handle that the rod attaches to is in the up position

that could be the problem. but I will never know until I get the door open. Is it possible that there a special tool that BMW use to open door in this situation.

here is my post on the local KCBMWCCA forums:

kcbmwclub.org • View topic - BMWNA and the X5 Door that wont open!

in my case, it was a corroded cable and double locked actuator/ lock that wouldnt let it open ... in my case BMWNA took care of it even tho it was out of warranty ... hth!
