What can I do with Carsoft 6.5 and OBD II interface?

Today I got an OBD II interface delivered with carsoft 6.5. I have it all installed but the wife is out until later with the car.

Does anybody else use this and if so, what for? I really just want to play, not re program or anything like that. Also I hope to get any error codes from the car if/when they occur.

Any tips?

Hi Adrian, where did you buy it and if you dont mind me asking, how much?
What made you buy it?I am very interested!

I bought it from ebay for about £120 UK pounds. It`s the carsoft v6.1 and 6.5 interface. I got the software from an online source. I bought it because I cant help but play with things.

I have now used it and it`s good. My X5 has 3 errors, all of which repeat after I`ve reset them. I have come to the conclusion that there`s nothing actually wrong though as the faults seem irrelevent.

One of the errors is the PDC system. I reset it and then reversed back in to my drive, the gates always make it bleep a little as I pass them. Then I tested the PDC error log again and it came up with front right sensor as an error. I assume this was the sensor that was warning me about the gate? the pdc worked fine tho.

I have been hoping for something like this. As a prior Audi owner we had OBD cable and software through a co called VagCom. I could do all sorts of cool stuff like adjust height on air suspension, program or change window codes, find and clear fault codes etc.
In Audiworld.com there was a seperate forum just for this

I`m using carsoft 6.5 and the obd II interface says it`s for 6.1 or 6.5. To be honest I dont know how to use the software, but it looks like you can do a lot of coding (not sure what that is). The live data is great, take the car for a spin with the laptop showing you live data and you`ll poo your pants! I also used to own an Audi but the most I did with that was to add a CAN BUS interface for my sat nav. I love computers and programming so what a dream when I bought a car with onboard computer and an interface that I can tap into.... Live data shows allsorts, even air pressure around the car, intake temp, oil temp, other temp, how many percent your accellerator is pressed, and LOADS more. You can also turn ON drive away locking which locks the car as you set off. Change loads of localised settings like language, MPG or LPG, Kilometers or miles etc..

Re the PDC, I sussed out that it was my front number plate that was causing the trouble. I`m in the UK and they are wide plates here, I just stuck mine down (it was screwed at first) and it seems to be fine now.

Cool, so where did you get the software and OBD plug???
Thanks

Get the interface from Ebay (usually German people, mine was from Germany and it came fast). Take a look at this auction http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-BMW-CS-6-1...QQcmdZViewItem

Make sure you get one that works with Carsoft. There are loads out there that just reset errors etc, the carsoft one resets service indicators and loads loads more.

Hi,

i could sell you the hard- and software for using it with your car. It costs 250 pounds (incl shipping to the UK). With this hard- and software you your read out the car, change the cars settings (f.e. the inspection, the language, miles into kms,you could see if the car has the originale milage or km's) and so on. So if you are working on the car you could't do it without carsoft for the diagnosis. I have the carsoft 6.5. incl. the update in the Enghlish language and i've got the hardware for the OBD2 and the OBD1 connector. )OBD 2 is f.e. the X5 and all the cars from 1999. OBD 1 is for the cars before 1999 like the E30 and E32 BMW's. You got the connector, the interface and the connector for your pc (Comport not the USB port).

it works out easy.

With the update you could change a lot of things of the Idrive.

Please let me know. I have a few sets.
