Love me some new shoes.
Finally got the new summers on (well, all-seasons). The snows were wearing badly in the front (more on that in a bit) and were so far out of balance that driving was getting to be a pain. So today I had new tires (General Altimax HPs), front rotors, and ceramic pads installed. Much smoother and quieter ride now. I still need an alignment, but that's coming up this Friday. Until then I need to put as few miles on as possible.
I had trouble finding anyone but the dealer to do the alignment. Apparently there is some issue about getting the DSC to "re-learn" the new alignment. The place that did the tires and brakes basically said they couldn't do it, and a dedicated alignment place in town said they'd have to bring in a BMW tech from the local dealer. So I'm stuck having my dealer do it. Still, it's worth the $175 or so to get it done right, I guess.
The good news is that my dealer is going to come out and get my X5 on Friday and leave me a loaner. Then my nephew and I will return the loaner on Saturday and pick up the X5 and my recently purchased 2006 Z4 3.0si. Can't wait for that. Hope the weather holds. :D
