Formal introductions
Hey Fellas!
So as some of you may already know, I just recently picked up an Estoril 4.8is for my wifey. It came to me dirty as F*** so it took me a good 2.5 days (in my spare time) to clean this badboy up and get it smogged. So here she is, finally! http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3642/...5912708c_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3559/...fee230a8_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3579/...9812cbf7_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3332/...f788630f_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3323/...fedcd462_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3592/...66c06435_o.jpg BTW, was this anyone's car on here? My buddy Dion told me that jvit7 (IIRC) from this forum showed him the link to this car and I ended up buying it. And last year, I had found this exact model forsale in Utah but passed at the time and he ended up buying it. Small world. |
Love everything but the blue steering wheel. Nice car.
Oh, looks like your house is about to be pulled into the ground by some demon weeds/trees. Might want to call an exorcist or at least pull out a weed wacker. |
Nice! They already put the running boards and front flares for ya!
Let the mods begin! :D I bet you the previous owner already installed LED bulbs for the angel eyes -and if you're lucky maybe even the angelibrights! ;) |
Yeah, the blue wheel threw me off too. But the dealer guy told me he had it sprayed along with the front lower valence b/c it had some scratches on it. I thought I read it was common that the steering wheel finish was easy to scratch. Will probably just get a black piece to replace. I don't like the blue either...lol.
As for the "weeds" those are my boston ivies that are just starting to regenerate for the spring. Don't worry, it makes the house look totally different once the leaves come on :) |

Unfortunately, no LED AEs but if you could show me where to get them and put them in, I would love to do this mod! He did do Xenon interior lights which I thought were ok, since its probably too much blue for me. I wouldn't mind going back to stock or red/orange interior mood lighting. The tails are silverstar type but they blink Red which I don't like. I'm going to have to put in some amber LED blinkers. The sidemarker blinks blue which I don't like either so I'll be puttin in a wedge LED amber marker there. But other than that, its everything we wanted in an X5. Love the exhuast note too! Also, the pano roof is soooo awesome. Originally I wanted to get a 335 vert but with the baby and all, it wasn't really an option. With the Pano roof, its like I get a psuedo convertible! It really feels bright and nice when you open it all up. Its like having the best of both worlds (vert and suv!). Loving the new X5!!! |

http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e53-forum/...e-hid-kit.html You basically have two options for AE bulbs and they're all plug-n-play. 1) Ebay kind usually $30-$50. 2) www.angelibrights.com v3.0 for $300 (sometimes they're on sale). If you see any other AEs they're gonna be just another version of the ebay kind. In the thread I linked I have pics comparing the two kinds of AE bulbs. Funny, but the X is my wife's too .. I need to get an upgrade! |

I still can't believe the dealer was so lazy that he sprayed the steering wheel blue and not black. :stickpoke |
Nice!
|
very nice!!!
|
NICE
|
Thanks for the nice welcome everyone. Looking forward to doing some modding in the future. Right now we're just getting acquainted with the car. I haven't even read the manual yet.

|
Welcome!! What a Beauty!! My Favorite Model! Wish I had one!
RR:thumbup: |
BTW, I always thought the facelifted X5s had the CELIS style tail lamps like the 01-03 E39 5 series. I guess not or I'm mistaken. I know the new E70 X5 has them. Anyways, I see some of you guys have the LED tails. I think those are pretty nice too. Where do I get and how much should I expect to pay?
|
Get a radar detector, and fast. |
Oh, the best part is its pre-wired for the V1. The previous owner took his V1 but since there is only 2 drivers and both our cars have V1s already, I can probably get away with just swapping them out of the car thats not being used (prob the 740i).
|
Nice. Now get a Stealth One and you're good to go!
BTW, does yours have the pull-out load floor after all? |
Yeah, it did have the tray! Too bad the BT is disabled and the changer doesn't play Mp3s. Bleh.
|
:xoutpost:
Very nice in deed. 4.8's are the nuts. Love the seat trim also. Glad to hear you're going to change the st/wheel blue trim back to black. |
That is one gorgeous ride... Congrats on the new bimmer! :beerchug:
|
I want to see photos of the other 2!!!
|

|
oh wow. the hottest e38 on bfc
Welcome! |
I love the look of the estoril 4.8is, very rare and probably my favorite! The M6 wheels on the 740 is a perfect combo. Nice set of toys you got.
|
Thanks guys! Its nice to have some choices in the am when I go to work.

Arjay spelled out Arjay is not a common name. I don't know anyone personally with the same name but I know there are a few out there. I'm sure they get asked what their name stands for all the time. |
beautiful x...how many miles..it looks new
|
It actually has high miles. I got it with 67,5xx on it. It does have a 3M clear bra on it so it doesn't have any rock chips on the front which was awesome. It was however very well taken care of at one dealership. The owner was really wealthy so no expense was spared on maintenance and it even has the 100k extended maintenance warranty to boot. The instrument cluster was also replaced so no dead pixels there. Overall, the car felt very close to new.
BTW, I'd like to think that the higher miles gave the previous owner the chance to work any kinks any issues with the car. So far, so good...wish me luck! |
I like your e38 man. You have to get that alpina front lip, it would finish everything off perfectly. Your x5 does not need those LED tail lights. Dont cheapen out your car by modding unnessary parts. I think the only thing that I think can make the 4.8is better is the addition of the under carriage bar. It makes it look so much more rugged and sporty. Anyways congratulations on your car and good luck with it.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3315/...0544a7bc_o.jpg Thanks for the nice comments. That lip was the hardest to find mod. I had to wait almost a year before someone was able to make a mold and produce more of them. It is my last mod to that car! |
yeah man, ive been working with my brother on his e38 and it took us awhile to finally get that part. All we are looking for now is the Alpina 20" softlines. If you know where we could get it from, please let me know. They are in such high demand, everytime we find some online or on craigslist, they are allready sold. Your e38 is perfect man, nothing more to be done. Did you need spacers for the m6 wheels? Sorry I know I should just stay on topic but its the last question.
|
hahahah, yeah I think the softlines are HOT too myself, but they are hard to come by. I didn't have the patience and I wanted to try something different that no one else had really done yet so I went with M6 reps. They DO NOT require any spacers. They fit perfectly. I ran a slighter larger profile up front so it rubbed the inside of my wheel liner a little bit. No biggie tho.
