What is this? what should I do?

Guys, can you take a look at the picture and tell me what this "hose" or "tube" is? and is it dangerous to leave it damaged like that? i think it's only the tissue that is involved, but does it provide more reinforcement?
kindly advise, thanks. |
i believe it's mainly for insulation - looks to be an A/C line - to reduce heat-pickup.
to be safe, maybe you can find some insulation wrap to wrap around there. others may know more here - haven't looked under the hood around this area yet. |
looks like fuel supply pipe, have it inspected by professional as soon as possible .
Got mice?
yeah, looks like a rat or a mouse was shewing on it... but that's how it was when i bought it 6 months ago, and it still buggs me... waiting for my next dealer visit for check up, in around 3K miles... but i thought i would take your opinion on that... i don't want to pay $$$ to replace it if it's an AC pipe for example.. but if it's a brake pressure pipe, well, i should take it now...
Take it in just to be safe. Don't wait. There may be more damage that you can't see somewhere else. You could mention that made mice got a go at it, etc.
Is it leaking?hissing? have you checked when the engine is started?bloody rats for sure, alas they are everywhere, if it doesn’t leak, I am sure you can patch it up, so wouldn’t worry too much, especially if you have not noticed problems all this time
no leaking and no symptoms...
But i just wanted to know what is this pipe! So? No one is sure what this pipe does?? where are all the "experts"? ;) |
That's an ac line. I wouldn't worry about it to much.
As stated previously, that is just heat shielding material around the metal piping.
dont have that in my diesel but yup looks like aircon pipe
THAT IS THE FUEL SUPPLY!!!!!!!THAT IS THE FUEL SUPPLY!If its not leaking then you are fine. It is not an ac line
so i guess i should inspect it more closely and try to see if the metal pipe is damaged as well. In cas it's a rat, i don't think a super rat would shew an aluminum pipe... i'll let u know what's the status there, and decide what to do next...
Thanks for the help guys! |
OMG!!! they chew aluminum and lead !!!! i'm having that pipe inspected a.s.a.p!!

OK... I took a close up photo... the pipe seems intact and shiny...
can I safetly say that all what i have is a damaged insulation that has no effect on the functionality/safety, and hence can be left alone? btw, a curious question: why is the fuel main supply doing a zigzag all around so visible and high? shouldn't be routed tank-pump-engine somewhere deep down? |
that is fuel line .the reason the metal pipe is shaped is to absorb vibration and movement of the flexi pipe . have it fixed asap . possibly previous owner had stupid fuel saver magnet fitted and wore through pipe.
