Expansion Tank Capacity
 

Planning to swap the expansion tank on the 4.4 E53. Tank doesn't look too huge . I have coolant in the garage but only around half gal jug. For those that have done the expansion tank swap, around how much fluid did you end up putting back....

You plan on putting ATF in your expansion tank? You sure that's a good idea?

If you want to reuse the coolant in the tank, you can get most of it out after you partially disconnect it and poor it in a container.

I get home late so I picked up a another jug on the way to work. cough cough...$20 for a jug of coolant.

Anyhow, for the thread record, when you replace the expansion tank on a 4.4, it's around 48oz total to top it off.
