StanF18 03-10-2009 11:54 AM

Good catch! Almost identical to mine. Same color, same rims, 4.4i, I've got the 2006. Looks great as is, but you will catch the mod bug soon enough and want to spruce it up. You got your performance mods, and then you got your visual mods. Let the fun begin!

jaylaforte 03-10-2009 12:30 PM

That is one gorgeous looking X! I'm curious as to what mods you're planning to do first as well...

Kashew 03-10-2009 12:31 PM

You can take it nice and slow, just doing one or 2 things at a time. Generally speaking, mods fall into 2 categories: cosmetic and performance. Some bolt-on mods are available at the dealer: front skid plate, underride guard, running boards, etc. Some you can find on this forum under "items for sale". You can order iPod docks from BSW. Performance mods include modified exhausts, cold air intakes, engine software, drilled rotors, the sky is the limit. I am a fan of Dinan mods myself. They do not void your warranty, but they can get pricey. Other great brands include Supersprint (for exhaust), AFE (cold air intake), HRE (wheels), BBS (wheels). There is no end, your budget will be the only limiting step. Start by looking at some of the photos here on the forum to see what you like and what you don't like.

Here's some mod links to get you started:

BMW Audio | Bavarian Soundwerks

Dinan BMW | BMW Performance

And some mods are BOTH cosmetic and performance... like a hot girlfriend in the passenger seat.

x555a 03-11-2009 02:55 PM

but you can't get one of those oem from the dealer though :D

X5 SOUTH CITY 03-11-2009 04:40 PM

Thanks StanF18!! I appreciate all the tips....we will see what can we start that is not so expensive....Thanks again!!

jayjay_dee 03-11-2009 05:19 PM
