PLEASE HELP, TRANNY OR TRANSFER CASE ISSUES
Hi Guys, I have an 06 4.4 with 39k on the clock. I have noticed that it has started jerking and lunging abruptly under slow acceleration. Does anyone have any experience with this problem and what could be the cause. I also notice at time it stays in 2nd, sometimes 3rd gear for a very long time under slow acceleration.
Please help, any advise would be greatly appreciated. Robert Seattle, WA |
it sounds like it's a transmission issue. check transmission fluid level. tansmission should still be under manufacturer warranty. relax and take it to the dealer.

Already scheduled an APPT, has anyone had a similar problem and what was the cause and solution?

I am having the same problems with my x5. when shifting from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd if there is not alot of throttle applied the car starts hopping until it is givin more gas or switches gears. Also I am feeling a slight engine surge cruising at highway speeds. Has anyone had this fixed before and if so approx cost of repair. Thanks

Tranny re-program. The Dealer will do this at your appt.

Could be a slipping torque converter...i'm currently dealing with this issue. Your's seems unusual with such low mileage though. Keep us posted.

GershX5, I agree with Bismark, taking it to the dealer and having them fix it correctly is the best way to go. According to my system your vehicle has a ZF transmission and it is very expensive to fix and so are the parts.
SCSORT, what year is your BMW and which transmission does it have. chilliwilli, I am curious about your converter. Have you found out what the issue is? Thanks, John |
Cobra Transmission
- My X5 is a 2001 unsure of the kind of tranny but it does have a 4.4l engine if that makes a difference. Thanks |

It's currently being monitored by my auto shop, their diagnostics reveal that it's the torque converter and not the trany itself. Either way, i'm weighing several options. |
SCSORT, It looks like you have the ZF transmission. I have a client that had a similar issue with his X5 with the ZF transmission. He replaced the solenoids and the wire harness and it fixed the problem. You might want to have it checked.
chilliwilli, is sounds like an electrical problem. If it where mechanical, turning off and on the vehicle would not alleviate the problem. Keep us posted. John |
