weak screen wash
 

Hi, can any of you help? My 2004 x5 3.0i is brilliant in every way apart from the rubbish dribble of screen wash that just about makes it a quarter of the way up the windscreen ...the headlights have a torrent of wash when I press the superwash button. Is there a filter that may be clogged up? the jets seem clear and waht I think is the pump makes a normal noise :confused: :confused:

Hi there,
Having had 3 prostate operations I can assure you that they will not affect
the washers!!!!!!!!
What is more likely is the filters in the washer reservoir are clogged up.
Remove the reservoir (be careful removing the tubes from the washer pump at the outlets as the plastic pipes tend to break )
Then remove the gauze filters and clean, also clean the bottle it will be full of crap.
There should be a' how to' on ths site .

the nozzles may be clogged as well if you are not using any windshield lotion that helps prevent the build up of impurities ... try using a needle to open it up...

this has happened to me on all my X5s - check that the tubes going into the back of the nozzles are clicked in properly - they can pop out causing most of the water to get sprayed over the engine cover rather than through the nozzles.
