Excellent writeup.
Im waiting on response from administrators because my screen is also redrawing every few seconds.
Jsears: Do you happen to know if the download formware will work on a mac computer?

No it won't. The "Downloader Tool" that is used to upload the firmware to the Intravee is an .exe file so it won't run on a Mac unless you run VMWare Fusion/Parallels or Boot Camp.

1. Go to Device Manager (Control Panel -> System and Maintenance -> System, and it will be listed on the left under "Tasks" )
2. Click "Continue" when the pesky UAC pops up. :-(
3. Double click on "Ports (COM & LPT)" (note that this will only show up when connected to the command module!)
4. Double Click on "USB Serial Port (COMx)" (where x is the COM port currently assigned)
5. Click "Advanced" on the "Port Settings" tab
6. Change the assigned COM port, and click "OK" all the way out ...

You should be able to disregard that.

teknic 03-11-2009 10:06 PM

There is no USB serial port on that list, There is no Port either

jsears 03-11-2009 10:07 PM

Are you using a USB to serial adapter, or a serial to serial?

If you are using a USB to serial adapter you have to install the drivers!

Do I have to connect the serial to serial that I have to be able to see it on the list?

So, what connection is plugged into your computer? Serial or USB?

I have a 160GB iPod connected with over 15K songs on it, and if I try to play a song directly off a playlist it goes to a different song off my complete library. I finally just switched to using the iPod on my full speed cable connection and it works perfectly.

I have an 80GB iPod and around 10K songs on it. The only issue I have is that when I first got it installed one of the connections was loose and it would jump from radio to iPod whenever I hit a bump in the road, but that was a quick fix.

I go for more shorter playlists than longer ones, and I haven't had any problems with playlists and a lot of the time I just do artist searches until I find what I want. I do wish it had a 'Jump to letter' for the artist search, it would make browsing a lot easier.

Try these two articles:

Read this one first:
How do I connect the Intravee to a PC?

Then this one:
