2002 BMW X5 4.4i - Battery indicator flickering sometimes

Hi,

The battery Battery indicator flickering sometimes, it is 2002 BMW X5 4.4i .. Only ... If i idle the engine or drive below 5 mph it happens; If I drive higher speeds than 5mph then it disappers; Should I change the Battery or Alternator ? I bought it recently from a Dealer and he said that the battery is not charged and once charged its will be good to go. What should I do? will it stop suddenly ? if so can you Jump Start BMW X5s if the battery goes down? Please help!

Thanks

Have the dealer test the battery to see if it is holding a charge and test the alternator to see if it is providing current to the battery.

How old is the battery? If it's more than 4 years old, then I'll start with that. Otherwise, check your alternator or drive belt as it may also be a slipping belt. You can jump start it if the battery drained, but if the alternator is bad, then your car will just die as soon as the jumper cables are disconnected.
