RBs are painted not anodized? Concerned about wear but maybe you don't actually use them! :rofl:

Wow, very cool looking mod. I've often thought about the fact that the r/boards finished in aluminium don't really match any other exterior component on the X.



I was thinking the same thing about scratches. If not anodised they could be powder coated in an exact matching colour as well.

Can't even remember what kind of HIDs. A friend of mine is a BMW "mod dealer" LOL. I usually source my own stuff, but sometimes i go through him. Paid $120 including resistors. $75 install.

The Invision system I paid $240 for!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hard to get in cream int leather, so I am getting it redone at a local place for $300. He orders BMW leather.. so for ~$500 i got DVD.. probably will cost me $100-$150 to install.

Yeah i don't use them LOL. Even my daughter doesn't use them.. she steps right over them.. i haven't told her they are there now LOL... poor 4 yr old..


Oh, and i had thought about it but i always liked the brushed alluminum. My brother in law actually mentioned it while i was at the shop putting my fogs in. He was doing his fogs on his e60. An estoril blue X5 was there with 4.6 kit and boards.. he said he thinks i should do mine in blue.. thats all the confirmation i needed.. i have always been thinking about it. i like the exact match of the paint too.. scratches i'll have to live with... :-(

Jeff .. those are OEM front flares, yes ... unfortunately those are not the ones we're talking about. Those are from the accessories catalog and they ARE flares - but more like black rubberized aero package.

Well at least I got to crush everybody's dreams about cheap flares. I was going to say the ones that I posted were well rather ugly, so I was wondering WTF you guys were going to put those on your X's for and that's why they are probably on sale.

But then you wanted the 4.8is flares, I should have guessed......

The running boards and supports are one piece. There's nothing else to remove. Check out the DIY on the homepage for pics and link on install (so you get an idea how to remove it).

The rubber grommets are the ones you'd have to remove one by one I guess ... that would be too painful!

I usually just clean them with a damp towel. I don't know about polishing them ... they're anodized.

i had to install those black dots (purchased at .40 ea.) - a pain. my thumbs are still hurting.. clean around them..

Newest MOD - X-Pipe.. very nice.. gotta admit the 4.8 itself has a nice exhaust note that i love every time i start it.. i hear the subtle difference once in a while with the X-Pipe.. not overpowering.. just a slightly louder purr... grow.. sorry no video sound.. but here's the equivalent to my reaction:

Back on topic ... the Dyer's 8-71 blower is about to go on but my mechanic said it might take a bit longer to adapt to the BMW motor - as its designed for Detroit muscle.

I can't wait to hear the sound of that thing, not to mention it sticking outta the custom carbon fibre hood I just got for it. I'm still debating whether I need to tub it out or maybe wait until after I add the 150 shot of nitrous.

What do you guys think. Should I have just gone with the add-on rear-mounted dual turbos for supercharging or do you think the Dyer's was a good choice?

So what about the LED tails for a pre-facelift e53? They won't flicker on an 03? You're looking to sell them? PM me with price :D
