Ignition check , battery alarm on
I recently noticed some leak under the car. took it to the dealer.
they replaced valve cover gasket bank1 and spark plug under warranty. Today I noticed that the Service Engine Soon , the battery and the low engine oil pressure alarms were on ,on ignition key position two. The alarms disappear when i start the engine. Since I am new to BMW, I am not sure if this should be followed up. I have 2005 x5 4.4i with 48K miles on it. thanks |

All those lights come on with the key just on... and should go off when you start the engine. The battery light will be on because the alternator is not turning to charge it, and the oil pressure indicator will be on because there is no oil pressure with the engine off. The warning lights with key on engine off are just normal operation, and nothing to be worried about. That is how it works with just about any car out there nowadays.
