Another chime that came as a surprise to me this morning was the cold temperature / ice alert chime. In our sunny CA weather, this morning was the first time that we had hit a low of 37 F, and the alert chime surprised me! By the sounds of it, this is probably not the OP's issue, but I thought I just drop this in here anyway. :)

I have a good guess that would explain the beeps but not the flashing lights.
Press the "control check" button, the one in front of the instrument cluster to the right and you might get a warning message. Very typical to get a couple of beeps when you turn on and turn off the car but could also get them while driving (could be as silly as running out of gas and it beeps to warn you of remaining range). The beeps could be coming from the car trying to tell you something is wrong and the message usually appears in the message area in the bottom part of the instrument cluster. Sorry but I"m assuming you have this type of "hi tech" cluster. If not, then check your manual for the equivalent. Let us know if you find out what's causing it. I'm curious! |
I'll throw a random one out there for you - have you played with and/or used the stopwatch function on the head unit?? I have never, but this weekend a friend was messing with it and turned it on and I forgot about it. A few hours later it started beeping at me to remind me it was still on. :D

twins- I checked all my wiring, and nothing looked weathered, so I took the fuse out and the problem still kept on keepin on.
meister- I checked the wiring under the seat for the seatbelt sensor and that was plugged in the same the one and only way it goes. So I drove around for a few minutes until the seatbelt chime went off which blinked the seatbelt light on the dash until I buckled, so I can safely rule that out as an cause. faz- thanks, but it's deff not the 37 degree chime. that is a daily occurance around here though, haha. sam- I don't have the check control button by the radio, just the OBC button on the end of the blinker arm that displays on my dash below the speedometer which hasn't read any error/faults. vegas- I don't believe I have the stopwatch feature. I'll have to check my manual though. Thanks for all your replies and help tries, but I still am left clueless as to what this could be. I am bringing it to the dealer this Saturday so hopefully the techs will be able to figure something out. |
I'm wondering if this could be an ignition switch issue as when they wear it can cause all sorts of strange issues... Maybe when it is doing it wiggle/jiggle the keys in the switch to see if it affects anything, or when it isn't doing it to see it it acts up.
Damn electrical gremelins and their ability to hide when within 5 miles of the dealer! |
