eax5 03-27-2009 03:11 AM

StanF18 03-27-2009 11:16 AM

:dunno: TO each their own, but it's complete overkill. IMHO. At that rim size, the tires may as well just be rubber bands.

RichiRich 03-27-2009 12:39 PM

Also...take it from me....you will go through your brake pads and rotors a whole lot quicker..

:)

JahBoundry 03-27-2009 03:07 PM

You could say that again.... and again and again... looks good though.

Take about adding unsprung weight to your car, those must weigh 2-3x's what the stock rims weigh.

TaMbALoLoNg 03-27-2009 04:42 PM

Now all you need is the Cadillac emblems for the trunk and your set.

eax5 03-27-2009 07:19 PM

look at yours its stock why would you whant to make your X stock why would you even put money in to it it looks like you havent spen a cent on it WTF loooser

X5 Meister 03-27-2009 07:37 PM

Be nice. Some people just don't like the look, size-wise or chrome-wise. Personally I don't like it either, but whatever you want to do with it is your business, just keep in mind that if you choose to post photos of your modified car some people might not love it. So take the critique like a man.

IMHO though, I fail to understand the reasoning behind the size of your rims. You are doing damage to your car's suspension as it was never designed to handle those size or weight wheels. In addition your car's handling, which was tuned on the Nordschleife, is nothing like stock which was just outstanding. Your braking is significantly worse due to the sheer momentum of the mass that need to be stopped, etc.

Look, some people think monster trunks are God's gift to the automotive world, others think it's the stupidest thing to do to anything with 4 wheels.
My 2 cents.

Looks like you are new to the site. Everyone... (looking around room patiently waiting for the clamoring in the room to settle down) ... Let's welcome our new friend to our friendly site. (everyone all at once) HI EAX5!!

EAX5, I feel you on NOT keeping your X stock OR factory. But just keep in mind that your taste will not match everyone else's and if you post pics, they are subject to criticism.

I think your wheels are nice but I too think they belong on a bigger vehicle. But then I'm sure I can find at least 10 BMW purists that say my 2001 X5///M
is fake, corny, and ugly.

Oh well. Screw 'em and keep it movin

Was something lost in translation from Europe to the US? Is it me or did he just say EAX5's X belongs on that thread?

ME :stickpoke EAX5

Just a misunderstanding. X5meister is just saying there are other people here who would like EAX5s looks too.

He's using that thread as an example that EVEN THOUGH the title is "ghetto-ized X" there are people who don't think some of those X5s fall in that category. A matter of perspective and we don't all have to agree in order to get along either. Whenever you're in the minority, different or uncommon you will feel some ... pressure.

X5 Meister 03-27-2009 08:31 PM

Twins you are correct. The owner's of those cars like their cars that way, even though the people who posted the thread only did it for a harmless laugh. I only have one mortal enemy on the board, and it ain't him.

Just kidding, you go and enjoy your 2 foot rims now and watch out for those pot holes  .

Keksus 03-28-2009 06:55 AM

The stupid thing about 24" on X5, is that you can get only chrome bling-bling wheels. There are no nice looking Breyton 24`s for example.

diyanich 03-28-2009 10:44 AM

That looks pretty expensive, does the look cost every bump you pass?

OMFG.....:bustingup :bustingup

FSETH 03-28-2009 11:31 AM

In all honesty, different strokes I guess. However, your strokes are way different then mine. I am not a fan of chrome wheels in the first place (looks way too Escalade-ish) and the fact that they are about 3-4 inches too big make it worse. It looks like a clown car, IMO. If it is a show stopper as you say then I would not want to be at that show, but if you are happy that is all that matters. You are just going to get more negative feedback than positive here as most people don't like that particular look.

DANGELO 03-28-2009 03:49 PM

Did you upgrade or at least replace the brakes? From what I understand, adding even lightweight big rims like that is always an issue on stopping / rolling weight. We even added Baer aftermarket kit to an old Silverado after going to 20" rims.

r/s

dok47 03-28-2009 10:31 PM

Oh my good...someone should take their drivers licenses away and lock those people up....but that is only my opinion...what is cool in having car that looks like clown car or cartoon car? someone explain me that please.
I am from Europe so I just cant figure it out by my self.

IMHO, part of the problem is some people don't read the whole thread. They only catch the last few posts. Then if those last few posts aren't even pics of the OPs X BUT has some pics they don't like - well, they could just be commenting on that and not really hammering the OP.

The next guy comes along sees some derogatory remarks and AGREES with that guys remarks! Ayayai! :dunno:

I'm just making a comment on the photo from DUB...

Couldnt care less if you put 30s on your X -- if you think it looks good and are willing to drive it, go for it.

First, I'm NOT trying to single anyone out.

Second, some comments on this thread (and not saying any of yours) I have NO IDEA where/what/who exactly to attach it to - the previous pic, the OPs pic, the last guys comment, etc. Because they just write some stuff down and don't use quotes, its EASY to have misunderstandings. Perfect example of my previous point.

And not sure who that last sentence was for, me or the OP or just a general statement to everyone even though you are using "you". I assume its some general comment.

For myself ... I don't have 24s or am looking to go to 24s.

Yes, I saw the thread about being nice and that is why I didn't tell the OP how I really felt regarding those wagon wheels. ;)

It may just be my opinion, but when you create a thread about mods you have performed to your ride, you are fishing for comments/compliments. People need to be aware that not every post is going to be positive. Not trying to be mean, just real.

By the way, not to call anyone out, but the person who started that whole "be nice" thread, posted what can be considered a less than nice smiley in this thread as well. :D

I'm not trying to pick a fight but what the heck does your comment mean?!

What does how much money YOU spent have anything to do with how much money HE spent?! Really, I don't understand.

If someone spends MORE money on stuff, that automatically means they're better or their mods, or whatever, are better somehow?!

And who is "we"?!
