20" or 22" staggered?
i just got a 2003 black on black. i want to get a nice set of wheels. i found alot od wheels on ebay. replicas and oem. i like the look of stagered. but dont see to many with 22" staggered. is there a reason why i dont see alot running that style.
i want them to fit nice not stick out alot. i want them to tuck as if they were stock. i want looks with out giving up the ride. any ideas or comments on the rims size? if anyone has any pics od 22" staggered that would be nice. thanks |
I'd say 20 staggered ... 20x9.5 fronts and 20x10.5 rears ... this is the OEM setup
|
Go with staggered 20"s . Use OEM Style 87 rims......

When I upgrade to an E70 I will take these wheels and put them on my new car. I don't believe you can't do this with the 87's. |
87th are pleasing the eyes

Have you considered a 21" stag set up? That's as far as I would go, but like most of the guys here I concur with 87 on 20"s, ya think.
|
I have styling 168, they look quite sick as well and bit fresher than the 87`s. Sorry for the dirty car, they are my winter wheels :D

Hey rabbit congrats on the new ride.
I'll throw a few pics from my other opst of my old 2002 Sienna red X5 with 22's for your reference. They were not staggered but looked great back in 2001! Now I'm on to a set of the wonderul 87's for our new 2006 X5. The 22's added quite a bit of weight which as you know wears on things like brake pads and rotors and most of the front end bits. Also kills acceleration a little too. Personally I think most of this negative impact is trivial but here we are modding our X5's with CAI's for a fe mroe horses so.... Anyway, check the pics of our old X5 with 22's. I think I ran 275's all around. Good luck and enjoy! |
PS The X was also lowered with the H&R kit about 1.5 inches. She handled like a champ!
|
What wheels are those JCAPX5, do they make them in any other finishes?
|
i have 22" 168s staggered on my 4.4. they look great and drive well even after an H&R drop

Nice X5
Very cool looking X5 with nice mods.
I have same sterling Grey 4.4 and I am looking for Wheel mods. Some one is selling the 214 wheels and tires perfect condition , here in my neighbourhood non staggered for 900 with the nice brand new tires. Is it a good buy or should i get the staggered set? Please help me as I am so confused. I like your look and i like 87s more.. Thanks, Sunil |

Agree with KingCon $900 is a smokin' price for wheels AND tires if they're in good shape. So many nice wheels guys, your X5's looks awesome.
My old 22's were made by a company called Bazo and they did come in a variety of finishes. This was back in 2001-2002 so I'm sure if they are still around. I'm back on the OEM kick and LOVE 87/214's decisions decisions... |

http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...rek/new002.jpg http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3.../newnew017.jpg[/quo is you 4.4 all stock on the body? did you add any of the 4.6 kit or any other moldings? it just looks like the trim is standing out a little more. it might be because of the black wheels. let me know it looks nice. thanks. do you have any drop? |

Thanks. Looks good
|
Thanks guys. I agree 900 is the best price. But only hesitation is that they are not staggered and staggered is the more aggressive and sharp look. Also, that guy has chrome 87's staggered with 2 good front tires(diamaris) and I need to replace the back tires which cost me $800 more to get. Or should i go to the new silver 87's for 1800 shipped with vredesteins?
Which looks good on Sterling Grey Silver or Chrome? Please help in deciding.. |
All stock 4.4i...wheels are not stag. I thought it would take away from the aggressiveness that the stag 87 had. To be honest, I prefer this setup not only on looks but also handling.

Thanks. I did get them off ebay. seller's name is: toomucheffort. I had them refinished locally. |
Forgive my ignorance, but what is the difference between staggered and non staggered.?
|
staggered - rear wheels are wider than front wheels.
non-staggered - all wheels(front & rear) have the same width. |
Aaah.
Thats it ha.. The rear rim is wider then the front one.. Been wondering a while about that..:) Anyone know what the offset on the 18" 87 style rims are.? Also, if buying staggered rims, will the tires be aligned on the outside or the inside.? |
They fit e53
I have a 2005 and just curious if the wheels you bought from Power Wheels Pro came with everything you needed to install on your e53.
Also I'm assuming the stock tires will fit these rims correct? NW |
dumb question
what is the term ( per-facelift )? it is in reguards to the headlight and brake lights. i have been reading and alot of it is per facelift mods. i have a 2003 x5 4.4 the production date is 11/2002 if mine per face lift?

http://www.xoutpost.com/attachments/x...-new-shoes.jpg I prefer the 214's over the '87's because it's the new look for the ungraded E70's. When I upgrade to an E70 I will take these wheels and put them on my new car. I don't believe you can't do this with the 87's or the cheese chrome plated ones shown earlier on this train. I'm also running Vredestein Ultrac SUV Sessanta Tires (staggered set - 275/40/20 & 315/35/20). Paid ~$850 including shipping, from got3bay on eBay - see eBay Motors: Four VRedestein Tires (2) 275/40/20 , (2) 315/35/20 (item 120386462579 end time Mar-12-09 23:40:47 PDT) - best looking/best performance tires IMHO!! :D |

Staggered setup only adds more understeer. It is purely a cosmetic choice IMO. Maybe beneficial in putting power down in high powered RWD cars, but probably styling for the X cars.

Go for the 22's!!!! Looks great, and rides well. No issues!

I would like to see the 22 inch 168 on an areo kit!
|
williamssk123; That X looks awesome with the 22" 168s! I was shopping for 20" 214s, but now I am reconsidering....I wonder what that would look like with the 4.6 front spoiler or the Aero kit!?!
|
oh man definitely a big thanks on that link, i was shifting more towards style 87's but these rims just do all kinds of things for me.

Ok... so I found a pic of a silver aero kit with 20" 168s and a pic of the 20" 214s; I cut and pasted the 214s on the photo with ms paintbrush and played around the size on the 168s to resemble 22". I know that the result is a little shady on the artwork, but it should give an idea of how the different wheels/sizes would look. What do you guys think?
|
They all look good..
IMO the 214 is something extra.. They are somewhat different from rims in general. Im getting a set of the 20" 214 soon. I've never been keen on to large wheels, so i find the 20" to look better then 22". It depends on the rims offcourse.. Also, the X looks better with some rubber on it.:) |

My X has been shoed with 20" 87s for awhile and I am ready to change it up. I have also been debating the aero kit vs. the 4.6 scheme for way too long.:dunno: These photos have finally summed it up for me; I am thinking that I should go with the 20" 214s and the areo kit. It makes the e53 look tight and more updated. Very tasteful.
Can't afford the e70....but I can mod this one up so at least I feel like I have something new! Titanium interior trim angel eye headlights and LED taillights (careful to maintain stock appearance) gauge rings M3 steering wheel Navigation/XM/bluetooth/rearview camera fresh floormats (....did I forget anything?) Oh yeah...Anyone want to buy my sport steering wheel or staggered 87s?:D |

I would stick with 20"s for least vibration/potential damage/cost of tires, better performance
Russ from Eurotech helped me out huge. lots of oem replica wheels! |
