Pics when you get them installed.

jst2878 03-30-2009 09:27 PM

RichiRich 03-30-2009 09:28 PM

Justin!!

Nice man! set that black off right!!!

Rich

MINIz guy 03-30-2009 09:35 PM

The seller, I believe, is carbonpart. Item number 190288645127.

I also remember a seller called bmerparts that also sold these, but may have run out for now.

This is a very nice piece to add as it is subtle from far but looks great up close. I'd love to add this to our X5 in 2 years!

jst2878 03-30-2009 09:35 PM

you know it richi. Congrats! 1,000 posts. I can't wait for the meet.

Minzguy...carbonpart is the company I believe I bought from...great product....illl be out there in the sun tomorrow putting them on.

JTis 03-30-2009 10:09 PM

Looking forward to seeing pics. Could you get some close-ups if you have a chance? Would be interested to see how it looks next to the gloss shadowline window trim.

jayjay_dee 03-30-2009 10:21 PM

looks like good quality justin, please post pics once installed...

X5 Meister 03-30-2009 10:29 PM

Somethin' tells me they are not real carbon fiber, but that's just a guess...

RPX5 03-30-2009 10:34 PM

I almost bought these last fall, I'd love to see them installed. Do you think they'll look nice next to chrome window trim? If i had black trim, i would definitely have gotten them.

FSETH 03-30-2009 10:58 PM

Everytime I hear the words carbon fiber I think of Jason Ellis. Anyone know what I am talking about?

i bought a six piece set that was an original bmw part. these were fake computer replications. this new set is the real dealio...3-d at its best and they have a real nice gloss. I even put the carbon meter 2000 to the new ones and they come up as 100% real carbon fiber...LOL

X5 Meister 03-30-2009 11:15 PM

Carbon meter 2000! Heck I'm sold! Wasn't Jason Ellis the inventor of that device?

 Thanks, Justin...those look great!! A year ago I would've jumped on them. But no more mods for Danica...gotta save up all mod-money for Danica v2.0. ;)

Jason Ellis is an Austrailian skateboarder who has a show on Sirius radio's Faction channel. For some reason he absolutely loves carbon fiber and is always talking about how awesome it is.

jst2878 03-31-2009 10:29 AM

I am a big fan of carbon fiber as well. iwas able to shave off about 130lbs off my civic with carbon fiber hood, hatch, and roof. its so light and durable

these carbon fiber pillars would look sick on imola red with black anodized trim. im drooling right now

FSETH 03-31-2009 10:33 AM

Carbon fiber is a very tricky mod, IMO. It can either look really good or really bad. I think it will look good with what you have going on with your X.

jst2878 03-31-2009 10:36 AM

thanks. i wish i could afford an x5 carbon hood hatch and roof. that would shed like 200lbs. painted parts of course

jst2878 04-04-2009 09:04 PM

updated on first page with pics

X Foomph 04-04-2009 09:07 PM

Very nice, especially against white body colour

9 week from right now... :tgif:

Damager 04-05-2009 01:43 AM

I hate to keep saying it - but GHETTO!

Why do people insist on taking A $60k beautifully designed auto and make it look like a rice-burner?

I don't get it. Maybe it's just me.

First of all my x is a 15k beauty due to its age and recession. its not ricey...a fiberglass body kit is

villajoe 04-05-2009 09:08 AM

that looks sweet!

Man......People keep forgetting the word theme....like when peeps say RR...wow man....X looks sweet except...you need to add the 4.6 kit......I just did all these bad ass mods.....no compliment on those..just....you need to add the 4.6 kit.....I am not adding nor will I ever because I found the theme of my book and I am sticking to it.......Obviously Justin has found his theme....a little cf.....is tasty if done right.......by adding those pillars it does not break theme and sets his White/Black off very tight like!!

Sorry I hijacked Just...just venting a little... :D !!

I get where damager is coming from but not with Justins cf pillars...I've seen some really bad cases of CS Disease....

Of course all the above stated...is just my .02...................

Rich:thumbup:

X Foomph 04-05-2009 10:21 AM

+1 to what RR said.

Plus I reckon it's a tastefull mod in that it doesn't stick out like dogs nuts on a canary :wow: plus you have to be up quite close to actually see the cf. From a distance you wouldn't know it's been done.

RPX5 04-05-2009 01:23 PM

I think it looks awesome on the white.

jst2878 04-05-2009 02:17 PM

RR, X Foomph, RPX5. thanks for the compliments...I just get sick of the way that anodized black trim gets with the waterspots. Now if I can get the tracking number for my KW coilovers I'll be on my way to complete utopia

TwinsPoppa 04-05-2009 02:32 PM

Hmm ... to my surprise that looks good! I'm not a fan of the carbon fiber look but I think on yours its a tasteful mod. I bet it even looks better in person.

Can't wait to see it at the June meet!

I dont have anodized, but my buddy did and I remember the trouble he had. If I end up keeping my X, I'll for sure do this mod

jst2878 04-05-2009 07:05 PM

its a cheap mod for a nice exterior look.

mtX5 04-05-2009 08:44 PM

+2 on what RR said.

and i think it looks great

Damager 04-05-2009 11:23 PM

You know what - on looking at all of the newer pics, this actually does look pretty good, especially with the white body color. I withdraw that "ghetto" comment.

RPX5 04-05-2009 11:46 PM

It does look great with black window trim, but how do you all think it will look next to chrome window trim??? Hmm..

jst2878 04-06-2009 08:54 AM

Thanks damager. RPX5, I think that it could look good next to chrome. its like a cold pool....you have to make the decision to just jump right in. go get em

Michelle 04-06-2009 09:47 AM

Updated pics are hawt!

I love the look of your X. I was so upset when you painted your 168's, but once I saw them in person I don't think I could own a white vehicle without black rims.

jst2878 04-06-2009 09:52 AM

thanks michelle. I'm starting to worry that I dont have enough time to get my x together before the meet. its freakin raining today and supposedly another three other days this week. I need a garage....better yet I need an x5M

I'm trying....this weather really sucks and Im still waiting for my suspension that should have been here already

JTis 04-06-2009 11:09 AM

Regarding the pic showing all the cars in your parking lot.....it sure looks like that Infiniti is touching the back of the XK8.....either that's that's the worst parking job I've ever seen or the best, with mere centimeters separating the two designations.

FSETH 04-06-2009 01:36 PM

Looks good. The waterspots drive me crazy as well.

i'll give it to my mom, she got within a centimeter of the g35...not once but many times without a bump

dolphin_4_u 04-06-2009 03:46 PM

That looks nice...I even thought of doing it myself a long time ago as one of the first mods but never got to it. To those who say it's ghetto...I disagree, it's tastefully done, not ghetto-overdone. And if a little CF is ghetto to you...where does my X stand???

Nice

their you go! let some of this mod fever rub off on you. just make sure to spray a light mist of windex on the pillars after you clean them so you can adjust the CF pillars to be perfectly aligned. show some pics when there on
