Inspection II - WTF am I missing?!

Inspection 2 quotes I just got for my '05 3.0i:

Dealership 1: $390 ($290 b/c I don't need oil change) Forgot to mention that this includes a free loaner car for the day

Dealership 2: $469 (I didn't ask about discount for no oil change)

Indy Shop: $450 (discounted for not oil change, but includes fuel filter)

After hearing all of the horror stories about $800 - 1500 quotes I feel like I'm missing something here...

I asked all of them repeatedly if there were any parts or miscellaneous labor charges that were not included in that quoted price. They assured me that was the full package. I asked them to confirm again that I was not going to show up to the dealership to pick up my ride and be hit with another $100+ worth of charges and they again assured me I would not. They said they will probably come across things that they would recommend I have done, but that as far as the Inspection II goes that is the total price parts + labor.

Am I missing something, or are the dealerships around here just that much less expensive? :dunno:

FWIW - the salesman I bought it from (talking out his ass most likely) told me it was ~$1200 at their dealership (not one of the ones I called).

are they including spark plugs, and front and rear diff fluid changes. the labor charge is 3.5hours. so at $145/hr $500 labor only. something is missing.

can you tell me where I will find dealership 1??????

bindas 03-31-2009 04:55 PM

Ya where are these dealerships? cause here in Canada...Inspection II consist of:

Oil and Filter change
Spark Plug Change
Top off of Fluids
Brake Fluid flush and refill
Clean Engine and Fuel Injector

All for small sum of $1100 if thats all they need to do...

If you know a dealer in for 4 bills in Toronto area, hell I'm going right now!!

My quote is 72% less than that. How can that be?

I mean, at $390 I am like 30%+ less than the guys who thought they got great deals.

I am in the same area as Clubba so I figured I would call and see what the price difference for the 4.8is is.

Seeing that I don't know which one is dealer one or two I will say that the one dealer I called quoted me at $460.00. The same Indy shop that Clubba called quoted me $725.00.

clubba 03-31-2009 07:42 PM

Added to the OP that Dealership 1 also includes a free loaner car for the day. All for $390.

That pricing sounds about right. I just had my inspection done last Tuesday and was quoted $459. I also told them not to change the oil and when I went to pick it up I was only charged $319.47
