How did you get the angel eyes to turn on without the corner lights. I hate the orange corner lights that come on when just the angel eyes are on.

JayX5 04-06-2009 10:26 PM

Those look great! im happy to know you dont need to remove the whole headlight to change these AE bulbs.

I think he has a euro spec X5. Therefore, AEs can be on without the parking lights.

went to teh site - great looking bulbs, but what's the price? Also, what's the LED output so ppl here can purchase without spending the $300 on the Angel iBright if the specs are the same. I love the look, great job. will need to take some night shots of mine soon as well.

Lennon 04-06-2009 11:50 PM

I bought the same bulbs from e bay, they where £40 delivered, they are very bright and match the xenons know.

I'm pretty sure those are the same as the ebay ones (similar price and wattage). If you want to see the comparison between the AngeliBright (the brightest) and those and similar products, look here:

AngeliBright vs. ebay et al.

Keep in mind that in his pics, and in mine in the link, the angel eyes are NOT that bright in real life. Notice the brightness LEVEL is the same as the stock bulb but the COLOR is the difference.

If you want brighter than stock AND whiter color - there is ONLY the angelibrights, as of now. Whether its worth the cost difference is a personal matter.

EKS PYB 04-09-2009 01:15 PM

I actually have the same ebay bulb I got since over a year now and still going strong. I do have to let people know that it is not that visible during the day. Whenever the DLR turn on, and its still bright outside, it won't be as noticeable as if it is totally dark.

I do envy the other BMWs out there that have the Ibrights because no matter what time of the day, it is bright and you can see them coming down the road. But I didn't want to fork out the $300 just for that so I went with the ebay one and i'm happy with it so far.

StartX5 04-09-2009 01:36 PM

Becareful what you are trying to do, replacing the EOM with whiter headlight bulbs is your choice but in these photos there was photoshop involving to make it brighter, whiter that impressed us so far :)

jayjay_dee 04-09-2009 01:54 PM

:iagree:

AIBs are still the way to go... more expensive but worth it... ;)

although i wish AIBs would be more visible during day time like other AE's that i see on the road.

Hope you're not talking about my pics in the link. No photoshop there.

I just installed the same set and I have to agree, they are great. Clean but not too bright to cause a fuzziness around the rings. a SWEEEET upgrade to the factory yellowish ones, for $40 from e-bay.

DunKeL GraU 03-26-2011 06:29 PM

Can you provide the eBay link please? For forty bucks I don't see how you could go wrong.

don't buy them, they suck . you can't see them at day time and they not very bright at night .
BMW X5 2005 .

Lerbram 03-26-2011 07:51 PM

you can see the deference between left and right . left i old =)

Clockwork 03-26-2011 08:13 PM

the seller on e-bay is HERCOLOR
the price was $28 plus $8 shipping from China but I got very quickly!!

White LED Angel Eye for BMW E39 E60 E63 E65 M5 X5 E53 on eBay.ca (item 200510540150 end time 17-Apr-11 13:43:18 EDT)

OR another seller is selling R-Dash for even cheaper ($32 for product and shipping):

R Dash 3W LED ANGEL EYE BULBS BMW E39 E60 E87 E53 WHITE on eBay.ca (item 270706436390 end time 15-Apr-11 06:20:49 EDT)

I am not saying the ones I have will be BRIGHT but I'm not using them as a source of light, just wanted to change the yellowish light to a cleaner white, as the OP's pics show.

Ok I checked out those links but I am a little confused. Is one set for all four angel eyes or do I need to order 2 sets, one for each headlamp? Sorry if I'm missing something obvious.

The problem is that these ebay bulbs don't last very long :( Mine were burnt out in a few month. My OEM bulbs are still running after 7 years.

1 bulb will light both eyes on each side. You'll only need 2 bulbs (one for each side)

DunKeL GraU 03-27-2011 01:52 PM

Thanks. I figured that was the case but just wanted to make sure.

DunKeL GraU 04-06-2011 08:08 PM

So I installed the ones hercolor. They are nice but I'm getting a check side light message now. Any ideas?

Clockwork 04-06-2011 08:28 PM

DunKel, what year is your X? I have a 2005 with the HerColor LED angel eye replacement bulb and I am not having any issues with mine causing an error.
DO you perhaps have a dead sidemarker bulb/park light?

DunKeL GraU 04-06-2011 08:36 PM

Thanks for the help! I have a 2006 3.0. I'll check again but I had no message before the install and then it popped up literally minutes after. Maybe the new angel eyes blew a side marker bulb. I'll check again and update.

Clockwork 04-07-2011 02:42 AM

Check again that the connections to both LED angel eye replacement bulbs are pushed in fully. I know mine took some serious pushing in, cause of a tight connection.

Driver Side bulb access

1 Attachment(s)
Got upgrade bulbs, hope to switch out tomorrow. I see the passenger side is easy access, how much needs to be removed for access on the drivers side?

I'm in the same boat as you, does this really need to be moved or is there a simple way? :dunno:

So I was finally able to check the connections out and they were as tight as I could get. I also checked the other bulbs and there were no bulbs out.

I like the way the lights look but the error message will drive me nuts. I think I'll put the stock bulbs back in.

If anyone wants to give these a try, I'll sell for $35.00 shipped in the CON US. I paid about 48.00 shipped. They were in for about a week.

hypnotiqdmg pointed me in the right direction. Pic attached of the 3 bolts to remove. That enables moving things a bit in order to get access to driver side bulb.

hi I managed to change mine without removing that, however by the looks of it its justa few 8mm or 10mm nuts it maybe a job for someone with small hands lol!

How an earth did you get to the cover with all that in the way?? Mine arent that big (Oo err missus ;)) but I can't get anywhere near the bulb, I'll have to move that 'stuff' in the way,

Cheers

Tom

westside 04-11-2011 11:44 AM

Hi Tom i'm preety sure i didnt have to remove that I know i started to remove those nots and my neighbour popped over and amnaged to do it. HE can change the angel eyes bulbs on his 6 series somehow by the time i got back to pick up my 10mm socket he had done it! By the looks of if the tab is on the top i did press down with a scredriver and pop the tab down he then managed to twist the bulb and and get the new one in. Or it maybe a acse of moving that bracket etc out the way. I think a coolant pipe is clipped there so u may have to just pop it out from its holder clip

westside 04-11-2011 11:45 AM

I replaced mine over the weekend and needed to remove the three bolts mentioned on the previous post. you need to lift the housing to get access the the bulb cover. if you can get a buddy to hold the housing up while you replace the bulb it goes much much faster. I replaced my OEM AE bulbs with a set from ebay (Angel Eyes LED bulb BMW E39 E53 E65 E66 E61 E63 E64 E87 | eBay=) for $45 shipped. They look awesome and yes you can see them durring the day.;)

Yes, that is the same seller and kit I bought from. I used a flashlight to prop up the housing after removing the bolts. I can't imagine getting a hand in there with everything in place....

Excellent thanks for all the info! Now hope this isn't a repost question but how do we get these as the DRL?
