Winter Tire Fitment for 4.8iS

Just thinking ahead as I haven't even got a 4.8iS yet (may settle for a 4.4)...

What size wheels/tires fit the 4.8iS for a winter setup. Local guy is selling his 19" 4.4 sport package wheels (132's in 19x9 and 19x10, 48 offset) for a decent price (I think) and I was contemplating buying them as a winter wheel setup.

Thoughts from the cogniscenti?

Weird. Happy to help. I just didn't feel like re-writing everything. I posted tons of pretty good info in that thread straight from BMW so it should be pretty accurate.

I have those wheels as my winter set up. with Pirelli winter tires size 255 front 285 rear (oem size for that wheel)
Grips GREAT
looks good, especially for winter wheel use

So quick question, since I'm looking into getting a set of winter wheels for my 4.8is. Can I get any X5 wheels bigger than 18? The do not need to be staggered right? Also, do all X5 wheels have the same bolt patter, do I need to worry about that?
Any thoughts on what I can find for less than $1k?

i would go with the 19s with pirelli scorpion ice and snow. Anything smaller looks terrible with the fender flares

for less than 1k? thats a tough question. you can just switch out your tires now (probably diamaris?) to the Toyo Proxes ST II. they are great in all weather and run them all year. or you can switch the tires each season with pirelli scorpion ice and snow. they make the size for your X

under $1,000. easy, go 18's.

tirerack.com has them near $150.

you can pick up 18 rims on craigslist for $400 for sure. less if you are patient.
too bad 17s didn't fit. I picked up rims and tires (OEM michelin) @60% for $200. winter tires are $90-110 at tire rack.
