Hi,
The bushes do wear gradually over a period of time so that the deterioration is gradual and goes un-noticed until the bush fails so badly that the subframe actually starts banging up and down. Powerflex make the very best bushes and are warranted for LIFE and come in separate halves and so are much easier to fit. I helped design them together with the thrust arm bushes and if you look on the Powerflex website, at the install instructions, you will see the install of the development bushes on X5Girls car. They are better than stock, much faster to fit and last a lifetime, and are only marginally more expensive than OEM and so IMHO its a no-brainer. They are available from [email protected], from stock I believe, and are located in WA, USA so shipping is at reasonable cost and quick. For info on the bushes see.... Powerflex If you decide against Powerflex, then use OEM as although they are not great, at least they fit, unlike sets previously purchased through factors and ebay. Hope that helps. Gerry. |
I just had the PowerFlex thrust arm bushings installed two weeks ago (after reading X5girl's threads) on my 2002 4.6is. No more clunking noise, steering and suspension is tighter than ever and I will never have to replace them again. I've used polyurethane bushings on several other high performance vehicles I've owned and I love them. I'll probably be installing their complete line of bushings for my X5 when time allows.

Does Phoenix Still offer these parts or kits? it looks like exactly what I want for my X but when I went to their site I could find nothing.
