Angel Eyes & Fishcake

These headlights look great but should I trust a seller called "fishcake"?

I'm not too savvy on internet scams and what not, so I'd really appreciate it if you'd tell me whether I should invest my savings in these headlights or not.

Click here to see the headlights.

They seem great, they come in pure white and they're quite cheap. Also, could someone please explain to me what's Auto Leveling?

Now if this is a repeat, or my question's too silly remember no bullying. :(

use credit card to purchase.

These are the exact same lights as the ones that I got, although I didn't get them to fishcake!

I've had them for about 2 months now (got the non-Xenon version and converted to Xenon myself) and am very happy with them. I looks great. The build is not as superb as the original Hella lights, but it's way better than other after-market options. So far no leak, no condensation, Auto Leveling worked work.

Auto Leveling - the vertical angle of the light is adjusted automatically per the weight (passenger / loads) loaded in your car. I think it requires a sensor in the car (but not sure with what options, air suspension?!), and the headlights needs to have a motor (which these headlights do have). The quick way to check if you currently have these option is when you switch on the headlights, the headlights will tilt up and down slightly, before settling at the level they should they should be at.

Hope this helps.

Thank you both for your reponses.

Simon, I have a fully loaded 2003 4.6is, I need to check though.

I really like them and I e-mailed the seller, but I have no idea if this is legitimate or just a scam. If you don't mind me asking, why did you buy the non-xenon and upgrade it to xenon?

My ideal specs are pure white xenons and angel eye rings, so if anyone else has any info on these headlights I'd really appreciate it.

there is a seller on ebay who sells the same headlights but can swap out the AE's to CCFLs which will look whiter, kind of like mine. look for that seller; i'll see if i can find the link.

check these out; pricey but it looks like awesome quality:

E53 00-03 X5 HID Xenon Pro HEADLIGHT Black DEPO BMW - eBay (item 360147713253 end time Apr-23-09 13:51:20 PDT)

I can't speak for other sellers but for my case.... it's because I ordered them thru a friend who got it directly from DEPO, and these lights actually do not have any Xenon option by the factory. Usually it's the dealer / seller who does the upgrade to Xenon (which is really a very simple job!). Also, I already have a spare Xenon kits, so it was just plug-n-play for me.

You can change the high beam and low beam to whatever color of bulbs (I use 6k HID for low beam, but use 4300 for High beam because I don't like the look of blue color on the bulb physically).

For the AE, each "ring" is lid by 4-5 little bulbs spread across the rings. They are not, and does not look as goo as, the CCFL rings. And if you look closely when the AE are lid, you can see the "hot spots" of the bulbs. But to me I find them being good enough already and don't want to risk having leaks and water condensation problem if I open the lights up to switch to CCFL.

I keep the AE in yellow bulbs, but someone did switch to white bulbs from this post.

mtx5, that's totally out of my price range. They look awesome though. I'm gonna sell Range Rover rims that are laying around for these lights so my options are limited to my budget. Thanks for the link though, highly appreciated.

Simon, I did notice the hot spots, but I'm really just looking for the look so I'm quite fine with it. There's always gonna be a better option, eh? So if I want them to be white they'd have to change them to CCFL or are there default white ones?

simoncpw 04-19-2009 12:21 AM

My Angel Eyes is definitely not blue. Check the pics here. I kept mine to default with the yellow OEM standard little light bulbs. CCFL is a completely different kind of lights, it's like a tube light which gives you a much brighter, whiter, and linear brightness across the ring.

My lights came with only the 4k-ish high beam bulb only.

mtX5 04-19-2009 12:23 AM

its no problem.
AEs= angel eyes. Rather than get the orangeish that the depos come with, the company in the link will replace them with CCFLs (gas filled) which are whiter.

so they look blue in my sig because of ice and stuff on the headlights, but you can find many clearer pictures of mine if you search the forum..here are some..
